Message from the President

Since our establishment in 1946, our company has been involved in logistics, primarily focused on petrochemical products. In the early years, we transported oil and fuel by rail tank cars in quantities ranging from tens to hundreds of tons. Today, however, the focus has shifted to diversified, small-lot transport using ISO tank containers, IBCs, drums, and canisters.

NRS took the lead in promoting the use of ISO tank containers and was one of the first companies to purchase containers from Europe to support our Japanese customers’ export projects. At the time, we faced challenges due to weight regulations, which led us to simultaneously develop container trailers suitable for domestic transportation. By engaging with the government, we succeeded in easing weight restrictions, enabling smoother international trade logistics. Ongoing negotiations have since allowed for full-capacity transport both within Japan and globally.

The domestic transportation of ISO tank containers by rail had also been a challenge for many years. However, in 1995, the transportation of ISO tank containers between Sumidagawa Station and Niigata Freight Terminal was initiated, and today, this service has expanded nationwide, contributing to reduced CO2 emissions and alleviating the workload on truck drivers.

Furthermore, we successfully appealed to the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare to lift volume restrictions on hazardous substances, which enabled the expanded import of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid.

As we approach our 80th anniversary, the global social and economic environment, including that of Japan, has undergone significant changes. Environmental protection and other social challenges are increasingly central to chemical manufacturing and its logistics. Our company is committed to addressing these challenges from a logistics standpoint, while continuously improving the quality of our chemical logistics services.

We believe that the safe, reliable, and high-quality services we provide in chemical logistics will contribute to a sustainable society from an ESG perspective.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your past patronage and look forward to your continued support and guidance in the future.

Hiroto Tanaka, President and COO
